Eloise Jones Branch



Eloise Jones Branch was born to the late Evans and Lillian Hunter Jones on June 3, 1935. She departed her earthly life in the early morning hours of December 5, 2018. Eloise spent her formative years educated in the Wake County Public School system and obtained her spiritual education at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. After graduating from Washington High School, she attended college at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and received her Undergraduate Degree in Home Economics in 1957. She met and married Mark Branch, Jr on August 3, 1957 and to this union one son, Mark Branch, lll was born. A dedicated educator, Eloise taught in the Wake County School system for more than 31 years. She began her tenure at Lockhart School, where she also coached the girls’ basketball team. She later taught at Vaiden Whitley and East Wake High Schools and culminated her teaching career at Athens Drive High School.

Understanding the necessity of continual learning to effectively educate, Eloise furthered her own education by obtaining two Master’s Degrees from North Carolina Central College (University). She was an educator by profession, but a teacher by choice. Her consummate dedication and passion to the development of young people led her to mentor numerous children during and after her formal employment. She also continued to cultivate her spiritual life as a member of Mt. Pleasant, Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Eloise was preceded in death by both parents and one brother. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life, her husband, Mark Branch, Jr. of the home; her son, Dr. Mark Branch, III of Durham, North Carolina; three sisters and two brothers all of Raleigh, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Her Celebration of Life is scheduled for Monday, December 10, 2018 in the C A Haywood, Sr. Memorial Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM. Viewing and Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM prior to the service.

Interment at 11:00 AM Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
