Rena Mae Bridges, daughter of the late George and Mattie Bridges, was born on May 30, 1932 in Johnston County, NC. On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, Sister Rena departed this earthly life at PruittHealth in Raleigh, NC.

Sister Rena was educated in the Johnston County School System where she attended Johnston County Training School. She was employed with NC Council on Aged for many, many years. She was a devoted and committed caregiver to the many clients assigned to her.

Rena M. Bridges, along with her parents, was preceded in death by her siblings, Beatrice, Della, Harry and George Jr. She was also predeceased by a loving grandson, Garrett H. Bridges and nephew John Henderson.

Ms. Rena leaves to cherish her precious memories and mourn her passing; six daughters, Valerie Hardmon of Atlanta, GA, Elaine Watts (Johnny) of Clinton, SC, Janice Bridges Orji, Cynthia Bridges, Karen Bridges, all of Raleigh, and Janice Sanders of Atlanta, GA; five sons, Michael Bridges (Cynthia) of Virginia Beach, Kenneth Bridges and Wayne Bridges, both of Raleigh, Ronald Bridges (Valerie) of Tarboro and James E. “Man” Bridges of Raleigh; seventeen grandchildren, Lady, Jena, Jennifer, Larry, Reginald, Patrice, Ben Jr., Michelle, Renee, Kennedy, Bryan, Alexis, Morgan Lee, Joelle, Keisha, Christina, and Brandy. She also leaves her only surviving nephew, Darrell T. Bridges and cousin, Linda Bridges, and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Young Missionary Temple CME Church, 2901 Sanderford Road, Raleigh NC at 12:00 PM with visitation preceding the service at 11:00 AM. Interment takes place at Carolina Biblical Gardens.

Public viewing will take place on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Haywood Funeral Home from 2-8 PM.
