Ella Mae McLamb Williams, the daughter of the late Paul and Swanora McLamb, was born on July 17, 1935 in Clayton, North Carolina. On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, Ella Mae departed this earthly life at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Ella Mae was educated in the Johnston County School System and attended Short Journey Elementary and Clayton High Schools. She was employed with Watson and Cross Poultry for many years, and she was also employed with the school system. She had a love and passion for cooking, as showed in her employment - she was the head cook at Poole’s Luncheonette in downtown Raleigh, Scotty’s Chuck Wagon in North Hills, and Blues Cafe in Raleigh.

Ella Mae has assisted in planting the seeds of four generations of her family: nine children; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.

Ella Mae, along with her parents, was preceded in death by her sons, Charles Henderson and Walter Marice McLamb.

Ella Mae McLamb Williams “Miss Mae” leaves to cherish her precious memories and mourn her passing; five daughters, Gwendolyn Veal (John) of Cary, Joan McLamb (Pete) of Raleigh, Wilhemenia McLamb of Raleigh, Elizabeth Williams of the home and LaWanda Ortiz of Raleigh; two sons, Randy McLamb of Raleigh and Samuel Henderson of Little Washington, NC; one brother, James “Jimmy” McLamb (Cora) of Jackson, MS; and one sister, Dorothy “Pig” Roberson of Smithfield. She also leave precious memories to her grands, great grand, great great grands, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the C.A. Haywood Sr. Memorial Chapel, 2415 S. Wilmington Street at 12:00 PM with visitation preceding the service at 11:30 AM. Interment takes place at Carolina Biblical Gardens, Garner NC.
