Miriam Tomlinson

Miriam Tomlinson was born January 27th, 1928, in Charleston, South Carolina. Daughter of the late Clarence and Ida Morrison, and elder sister to the late Judge Clarence Robert Morrison. Miriam entered into eternal rest, Friday, May 25th 2018, at the age of 90.

An alumni of Burke High School in Charleston, and a rising basketball star, Miriam was also an active member of Morris Street Baptist Church, where she played piano and sang on the church choir. Her adult career had her transition from a seamstress, into Data Management at Dun & Bradstreet.

Mother to James Marvin Myers and Linda Joyce Myers-Long, having been divorced from their father, she later met and married the love of her life, Mr. Thomas Stewart Tomlinson, a carpenter from Kingston, Jamaica. Adamant about making sure the world had the privilege of meeting his wife, he took her on two world tours.

Miriam was a social butterfly, hosting a number of family related events, almost quarterly, she prepared an outstanding roast beef and gravy, baked mac and cheese, and her famous Hoppin' John. After dinner, we all looked forward to an exciting game of dominoes, bingo, and pokeno.

As she travels forward, Miriam leaves behind 4 loving generations. Her two children: James and his wife (Claudette); Linda and her husband (James) Four grandchildren: Marvin and his wife (Tameeka); Nila and her husband (Jeff); Loucresha and her husband (Keith); Levon and his wife (Shannel) 17 great grandchildren: Cassandra, Collin, Romell, Jalen, Ulaysia, Salina, Keith Jr., Lakia, Londynn, M'Lysia, Shai, M'Kenzie, Magnus, Jada, Aniyah, Sanaa, and Levon Jr. 4 great great grandchildren: Royal, Milan, Samir, and Ma'leya. A host of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cousins, and one living Aunt Emily Freeman, who is 99yrs old.

It's been a long time since Grandma remembered all of these little details, which seems ironic, since she was all about the details that made everything extra special. But those of us who love her, and were loved by her, will never forget her. We know how blessed we were, to have spent time and space with the extraordinary woman she was... we love you Grandma.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the C A Haywood Sr. Memorial Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM. There will be no public viewing for Mrs. Tomlinson.
