Thelma L. Mackey, 84, of Raleigh NC departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Thelma Mackey was born in Sylvania Georgia to Callie Johnson (Tapley) and Isaac Nanaway Johnson on July 20, 1934. One of nine children, Thelma was preceded in death by her siblings Ulysee, Camilla, Marie, Mary, Fred Inez Rodie, and George.
Thelam lived most of her life in Vidalia, Georgia. She was a gentle, loving mother whose greatest love were her children, her grandchildren and her love of the Lord. She had a passion for baseball, never missing an Atlanta Braves game.
Thelma worshipped at the Church of God in Christ in Vidalia where she was a Church Mother and proudly took her seat at the front of the church, always lifting those around in their love of the Lord.
Thelma was married for many years to Willie Mackey, Jr., and they were blessed with three children, Marcella (Roosevelt), Lynette and Marvin (Kerrie). Left to behind to always remember the love of their grandmother are, Ron, Nicole, Sharon, Jacques, Helen, and Joanne together with a new legacy of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a wonderful host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will take place on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Carolina Biblical Gardens, 1530 Creech Road, Garner, NC at 1:00PM.
Public viewing will take place at Haywood Funeral Home on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 10:00 -11:00 AM.
