On Wednesday, November 22, 2017 James E. Goode was peacefully ushered through heaven’s gate into the presence of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

James was the only child born to the late Julia F. GoodeCurrin and Samuel Wortham and the first and only grandson of the late Maebelle Wortham. James attended Raleigh Public Schools graduating from J. W. Ligon High School in 1966. During his years at Ligon he was a fierce football player, so much that he assisted with coaching at what is now Ligon Middle Magnet School. He also attended college at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

James accepted Christ at a young age while attending Bible School at First Baptist Church. He later united with Burning Bush Ministries, Inc. where Charles Valentine, Jr. is the pastor.

James was a business man, operating Goode & Champion Construction Company for over 30 years. He served on the Central YMCA Board during their facility renovation phase to help meet the needs of the growing community.

Everyone who met James couldn’t help but like him. He was full of joy and his compassion to help others endeared many to him. He was full of surprises and unique in many ways.
