When Our Heavenly Father called Jamal home on December 30, 2017 at WakeMed Hospital, he did not have time to say good-bye or ask questions why, because he was ready to get on board and taken his journey into God’s Great Glorious Sky.

Jamal was born to the late Harold Nixon Allen and Gladys Turner on March 20, 1972. At the age of three months, he was adopted by his grandmother, Dorothy Allen Freeman.

Jamal was educated in the Wake County Public School System and attended Athens Drive High School. He enjoyed a summer at Georgetown at a basketball Camp in Washington, DC.

Jamal attended Laodicea, now Macedonia New Life Church. His favorite hymn was “Be Thankful”.

Jamal was a “people person” and an animal lover. He could have easily been called “Professor DoLittle”, and of course his favorite TV channel was the Animal Channel. He loved being around and hanging out with his family, and they got a big kick out of him having a bird cage in his car, and a baby Pit Bull in a stroller. During his younger years, Jamal was a construction worker in Winston-Salem, and upon returning to Raleigh, he may have had his ups and down, and In’s and Out’s, yet he constructed many dear friends, because he was so very kind, always willing to lend a helping hand, give you the shirt off his back, and he was so compassionate; would cry at the “Drop of A Hat”.

When God saw Jamal was getting tired, “He” wrapped “His” arms around him and said “Come With Me” where there is no more pain or suffering because you have been set free, and will now always be with Thee.

Jamal Abdul Allen leaves to continue celebrating his life; his mother, Dorothy Allen-Freeman; his partner of twelve years, Tamika Moody Downey; three daughters, Fidelia Johnson, Ashley Allen, Jamilya Allen; three sons, DeSean Wright of Greenville, Jelani McInnis, Joseph Jamal Allen, both of Winston-Salem; brothers, Reginald Turner, Lorenzo Turner, Bobby Turner, Harvey Turner; one uncle, Robert Allen; one aunt, Barbara Allen Hinton; cousins, Sean Hinton, Brittny Hinton (Vincent), Madisyn McDonald, Maleya McDonald, and a host of other relatives, and friends.
